This year Forest Grove Retirement Village celebrat This year Forest Grove Retirement Village celebrates its 40th anniversary. To commemorate this event the Residents' Club engaged author Vicki Mynott to write a book about the history. Vicki is not only a published historian but a resident of Forest Grove. ⁠ ⁠ I first worked with Vicki in 2016, on her book about the Blue Fin Fishing Club. Since then we have worked on 6 books together, Vicki has 14 books published in total. In 2023, she said the book on Durack was her last, then came another book in 2024, now this one. I think this may actually be her last, which is a little sad.⁠ ⁠ This week the art was sent to the printer for a hard copy proof - this is my favourite part of the project, when the author (and committee in this case) get to see their work in print for the first time.

It's a big switch from the historical and autobiographical works I usually work on. There are numerous complex equations to review, which takes me back to my high school maths days – studying Math I and Math II 🤓
Book Design and Typeset | Kenmore State High Schoo Book Design and Typeset | Kenmore State High School⁠ ⁠ In November last year I worked with the KSHS History Writers Group on the school's anniversary book – Kenmore State High School The First 50 Years. ⁠ ⁠ The project was initiated by Principal Paul Robertson, with Judy Magub, OAM local historian and writer, leading the group – including writer, Richard Davey and Don Mansfield, both life members of the KSHS P&C Association, Colin Stewart former KSHS HOD, Roger Fry past KSHS teacher and Jeff Shepherd, past Kenmore High Principal.⁠ ⁠ The 160-page book covers every aspect of the school from the early years to now, acknowledging staff and students - past and present, documenting Duxes, P&C Presidents, School Captains and so much more. The book is printed in full colour with incredible imagery from the school's own archives. ⁠ ⁠ The cover design features a recent aerial of the school's location on the front, while the back features a 1936 aerial showing the location as a farming community with Aberfeldy Street as just a track. ⁠ ⁠ It is a valuable resource for future generations, and a wonderful source of memories for past staff and students. The book is self published by KSHS and is available in local, state and national libraries, it can also be purchased from the school, see link in bio.

Leading Edge Environmental is an environmental con Leading Edge Environmental is an environmental consultancy for the mining industry. Director and Principal Consultant, Stacey Gromadzki has over 20 years experience in regulatory approvals, project management, environmental impact assessments, reporting and stakeholder consultation. ⁠ ⁠ Earlier this year, Stacey reached out to discuss the company's branding needs. Although they had a compelling logo, they lacked stationery designs and templates for essential materials such as reports, letterhead, and business cards. With the existing logo's strong visual appeal, it was a matter of integrating a few additional design elements to create a unified and professional presentation.⁠ ⁠ Branding Guidelines were also provided for easy access to logo usage and variations, typography, colour guide and stationery information.
Lifestyle Perimenopause – Logo Design⁠ ⁠ In Lifestyle Perimenopause – Logo Design⁠ ⁠ In June 2022, I collaborated with Dr. Shelley Wilkinson on her venture, Lifestyle Maternity. This project encompassed both the logo creation and the design and development of a WordPress website.⁠ ⁠ Lifestyle Maternity continues to thrive, and this year, Shelley introduced a new complementary business called Lifestyle Perimenopause. We teamed up on the logo design in March.⁠ ⁠ Lifestyle PeriMenopause is about empowerment, strength, nourishing, settling into a new phase of life – growing bolder, not just older. The final logo encapsulates these themes of growth, nurturing, and transition. Heritage Pacific's latest development Markwell Poc Heritage Pacific's latest development Markwell Pocket, is a boutique subdivision located in Caboolture. For this project, a font based logo and a cohesive colour scheme for the Stage Plan and Lot Signage sufficed.⁠ ⁠ I love this colour scheme, which includes Pantone's Colour of the Year... Mocha Mousse 🤎

A4 Trifold Brochures for Kenmore & District Histor A4 Trifold Brochures for Kenmore & District Historical Society. ⁠ ⁠ This is a reprint of the brochures that were first designed 10 years ago in 2015!! There were a few content edits to improve the information, but the design has remained the same ... I still love the layout to be honest ☺️⁠ ⁠ Locally printed on quality 300gsm gloss paper by the reliable team at Allclear Print + Signs.⁠ ⁠ The volunteers at KDHS hand these brochures out at talks, local shows and have some on display at the local post office and newsagents.

The final product was an A4 size book with 356 pages and over 450 images ... it was a mammoth project!⁠ ⁠ Since it's release Peter has received a number of wonderful reviews that he continues to share with me ...⁠ ⁠ "A work like this is a serious undertaking and I am impressed (I worked at the Melbourne Age for 12 years and was involved with publishing books as well as the newspaper). The topic is massive and you have somehow managed to do it great justice..."⁠ ⁠ "If anyone ever wanted a wart and all book about Australia, its history and its people, this book is a must read for anyone who is interested in this wonderful country we call home.
